A Unique Moment of Grace

It is never too hard for a four-year-old to play on dirt alone in the backyard. It was just life the usual way for her except the unsolicited geographic relocation from the backyard to a jungle. The story of Marina Chapman rocked the world when it broke out on National Geographic and the mainstream media. She was abducted from her Colombia family house and dumped in the country’s deep jungle.

A large troop of capuchin monkeys did not hesitate to welcome her into their community. Soon enough by instinct she ate, lived and acted like the monkeys. That was her new life! She was too young to understand human life structure, she lost the ability to speak, and the sense of a real human.

She was about ten years old when her moment of Grace came. Marina had found an unfamiliar object in the jungle soil. Later in life she learned its name. it’s a mirror.  After seeing her image in the mirror a fundamental awareness occurred. She discovered her identity. She is not a monkey. She was not meant to live like them. This consciousness became her liberty catalyst, like the case of the prodigal son (Luke 15:15-17) who lived, and would have happily eaten with pigs except that he had an awakening. Marina embraced her moment of grace that started with the mirror encounter, eventually she was rescued from the jungle by some hunters. She lives a normal life now with her Scientist husband in England.

A brief moment of grace happens to all! Pastor Ezra in the Bible said “But now for a brief moment grace has been [shown to us] from the Lord our God, who has left us a surviving remnant and has given us a peg (secure hold) in His holy place, that our God may enlighten our eyes and give us a little reviving in our bondage. For we are slaves; yet our God has not abandoned us in our bondage, but has extended lovingkindness to us before the kings of Persia, to revive us to rebuild the house of our God, to repair the site of its ruins and to give us a wall [of protection] in Judah and Jerusalem.” (Ezra 9:8-9).

The Israelites were forcefully taken out of Israel into exile in Iran (Persia), until that moment of grace. When the moment of grace comes from God it comes with FULL RESTORATION. “So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, The crawling locust, The consuming locust, And the chewing locust, My great army which I sent among you. You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied,
And praise the name of the Lord your God, Who has dealt wondrously with you; And My people shall never be put to shame. Then you shall know that I am in the midst of Israel: I am the Lord your God
And there is no other. My people shall never be put to shame.”  (Joel 2:25-17)
